OMG..Let me blog!
I forgot that this was a portion of the class requirement. We talked about the parameters that this blog should include. I figure it should be a discovery, both academic and educational. I have been a professional educator for two decades, and I have learned more than I can say in the space provided about ME! What I have learned lately is that I need to achieve some balance in my life. Balance will give me the peace that will inspire the motivation to surmount this busy schedule that's in front of me. I teach high schoolers and have a decent load at UAB this semester. I don't make enough time for myself. I have some recently discovered some physical health issues and believe that I am recovering from PTSD. I thought that it was all in the past, but the five year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina had hit me hard, for I arrived in Birmingham on the winds of Katrina. I came here and rebuilt a life. I know that balance is a necessary ingredient to be a happy person and an effective educator. I say this so that all teacher's know that we need to take care of ourselves and be happy individuals in the classroom. We can be the most competent teacher, but if we are happy, enthusiastic, energetic, competent teachers, we will be more effective and more satisfied. Do you agree?
